What is the difference between the AMP plans?

Learn about the differences between the Basic (Free), Hobbyist, and Company tiered plans on AMP for Shopify

The biggest difference between the various tiers of the AMP plans is the ability to publish more parts of your store on AMP. Each paid tier of course also includes the tier below it.

An abbreviated summary of different plans:

  • Basic/Free tier: AMPed Products
  • Hobbyist tier: AMPed Collections
  • Company tier: AMPed Home Page & Blogs & Articles & Custom Pages
  • Enterprise tier: Advanced integrations noted here, metafield integrations in some locations, and dedicated AMP manager

What can I access on the free tier?

We offer a generous free tier, with the ability to add AMP to all of your products.  There is no limitation on the number of products you can AMP, and no limitations on the number of views or sales your AMP products can generate.

We also let you preview paid features within the AMP theme editor (excluding Enterprise integrations).  This means you can try things like custom CSS, product tabs, etc, without requiring an upgrade.  You can test these features within the AMP customizer, and adjust them to suit your needs, making sure that you like the functionality of the feature before committing to a paid plan. Once you upgrade your plan, the changes will go live on your published pages.  Before upgrading your plan, you can preview these features in the AMP theme editor, but they will not be live on your AMP pages.

There are several features within the AMP theme editor that require a paid plan.  Each of these features is tagged with a yellow stamp indicating the tier required for the feature.

You can click this label for more information about the tier, and upgrade as desired.

What benefits do paid plans have?

The most significant benefit comes from being able to AMP more parts of your shop, and the ability to enable certain advanced features/integrations of the AMP theme.  The most notable differences between the paid plan features are the following:

  • Hobbyist tier ($9/mo)
    • AMPed collections
    • 15 different product reviews integrations
    • Custom CSS
    • Sticky Add To Cart button
  • Company tier ($29/mo)
    • AMPed home page
    • AMPed blogs
    • AMPed blog articles
    • Animated announcement banner
    • Newsletter popup
    • Custom AMP domain
    • Product tabs
    • Size chart
    • Inventory Quantity/Urgency stock counter
    • other features noted within the AMP theme editor by the yellow "Company" label.
  • Enterprise tier ($99/mo)
    • Custom integrations listed on our integrations page
    • Custom AMP validation support (our team resolves all potential validation issues)
    • Priority on desired integrations (Prioritized investigation and development, if possible, on new integrations. Feature requests listed here)
    • Ability to output metafields on the AMP pages in select locations
    • Priority support & account manager

We offer a 14-day free trial for a shop's first upgrade.

What happens if I downgrade, or uninstall AMP?

If you downgrade from a higher tier to a lower tier, (e.g. from the Company to the Free tier), then the new tier's settings will automatically take effect.  For example, downgrading to the Free tier will automatically unpublish everything except your product pages.  If you want to keep your higher plan features, such as AMP product reviews, you will want to stay on the higher tier.  If you don't want to keep these features, you can of course downgrade to the free tier at any time.

If you uninstall AMP, and you currently have AMP pages published, just be sure to click "Unpublish" from the Page Visibility section of the app, and then uninstall the app from your Shopify Admin Panel. If you uninstall AMP, Shopify will remove the ability for your AMP pages to be rendered, so we always recommend unpublishing your AMP pages first, to avoid Google trying to index your AMP pages that no longer exist.

What plan do you recommend?

Most shops start with the Company tier, so that they can take advantage of AMPing the most parts of their store, as well as using all of the features labeled as "Company" within the AMP theme editor.  Larger brands or brands that require one of our Enterprise integrations will be selecting the Enterprise tier. If you have any questions, you can always drop us a message and we'll be happy to help you out!
